The importance of imagination and creativity for competent behavior.

Children with an open mind and a learning-oriented outlook get further in life and are happier because they feel that they have more control over their lives. Creativity and imagination are essential elements in this. Young children are more creative than older children or adults. It seems that creativity (and imagination) is being unlearned in education because in education we place too much emphasis on convergent thinking at the expense of divergent thinking.

In the workshop we will consider the concepts of creativity, imagination, competences and open mindset.

We give examples of how you can stimulate creativity (and imagination) in children. This is possible in art subjects, but also in mathematics and language. It is important to stimulate creativity in all kinds of areas.
